Dr. Gilson has established himself as a leader in the Potrero Hill Community. He is on the Executive Board of the Potrero Hill Association of Merchants and Businesses (PHAMB) and is active in the Annual Portero Hill Festival. Potrero Chiropractors and Acupuncture has held fundraisers for Daniel Webster and Star King Elementary schools, The Potrero Hill Neighborhood House, Toys For Tots, and the new Potrero Hill Library

Because of his fundraising efforts, Dr. Gilson has a plaque on the wall at the new Potrero Hill Library. Doc G was also one of the top fundraisers in San Francisco for the Muscular Dystrophy Association in 2009 and 2010 and has been on the Jerry Lewis Telethon in each of those years because of his outstanding effort.
